200-HR Yoga Teacher Training

Pre-Enrollment Information

Please review the following information. You can contact us with any questions, or bring them up in your interview.


Requirements for admission:


  • Have English-language comptencey
  • Complete a 20-minute phone interveiw
  • Have experience practicing with a yoga teacher or therapist
  • Demonstrate physical/mental health and readiness to fully participate in the demands of this program


Spring Training Dates


First weekend: Thursday-Sunday March 2, 3, 4, 5 (11a to 5p)

All other weekends: Saturday-Sunday (11a - 8p)

  • March 11-12, 18-19, 25-26
  • April 1-2, 8-9, 22-23, 29-30 (no class on April 15-16)
  • May 6-7, 13-14, 20-21

Last weekend: Thursday-Sunday May 25 - 28 (11a - 5p)


Summer Training Dates


Training dates: July 7-25


If you are staying on site with us, please plan to arrive on the afternoon of July 6 and depart on the afternoon of July 26


Tuition Refund Policy:


Refund requests must be made in writing. Refunds are available only to students who PAY IN FULL. Refunds are not available to students who are using a payment plan (including the deposit option) because all payment plan payments are non-refundable. Please consider this information carefully when you are choosing and committing to the HYI yoga teacher training program. Tuition is non-transferable to another person or to another training date.


  • If you cancel your enrollment 90 days or more before a program start date, you will receive a full 100-percent refund.
  • If you cancel your enrollment 89-60 days before a program start date, you will receive a 50-percent refund.
  • If you cancel your enrollment 59-30 days before a program start date, you will receive a 20-percent refund.
  • No refunds will be given less than 30 days before your program start date.


Attendance Policy:


Read through our attendance and tardy policy HERE. This is especially important if you anticipate needing to miss class.


Required books and equipment:


Students are responsible for purchasing their books and equipment before the program start date. The prices listed below are approximate. If you are purchasing your books through Amazon, please consider using Amazon Smile and selecting Hawaii Yoga Institute as your organization of choice.


Required texts:

  • Yoga for Everyone: 50 Poses For Every Type of Body by Dianne Bondy $15
  • The Key Muscles of Yoga by Ray Long $22


The following are recommend books and equipment, but not required:


  • Skill in Action by Michelle Cassandra Johnson $15
  • 2 Yoga blocks
  • 1 Yoga strap
  • 1 Yoga bolster


Code of Conduct


It is vital and necessary that you agree to the HYI Code of Conduct. If you would like to reivew it, please click HERE.


Requirements for Graduation:


  • 100-percent attendance
  • Participate in daily classroom discussion and teaching-practicum
  • Prepare and teach a 20-minute yoga class
  • Prepare and teach a 60-minute yoga class
  • Complete and demonstrate comprehension on the final written exam
